The Association of Tamil Nadu Medical Device Industry is dedicated to fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth within the Medical device, IVD and Allied sector — through advocacy, networking, and knowledge-sharing.
Mission
The Association of Tamil Nadu Medical Device Industry (ATMED) serves as a unified platform for medical device,IVD and Allied manufacturers in Tamil Nadu, representing a wide array of sectors including consumables, equipment, electronics, diagnostics, and healthcare products. ATMED is dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth within the medical device and Allied sector in Tamil Nadu. We strive to develop safe, accessible, and high-quality medical technologies that enhance healthcare outcomes both locally and globally. Through advocacy, organizing events, seminars, and exhibitions, we aim to build a sustainable ecosystem that supports the advancement of our member organizations while prioritizing patient well-being and healthcare excellence.

What We Do
Industry Advocacy
We represent Tamil Nadu's manufacturers before regulators and government — the Directorate of Drugs Control, the Bureau of Indian Standards, and Parliamentary and state bodies — and submit formal representations on the issues that affect our members.
Standards & Quality
Helping members keep pace with Indian and international quality requirements, from BIS standards and Quality Control Orders to ISO 13485 and CE marking, so that devices made in Tamil Nadu are trusted anywhere.
Events & Networking
Conferences, seminars, workshops and exhibitions — including our participation at Medicall and the IMDI national conference — that bring members together for learning, collaboration and business partnerships.
Academia & Talent
Building the pipeline of biomedical engineers the industry needs, through the ATMED Job Mela, industry sessions at engineering colleges, and partnerships with institutions such as Anna University.
Startups & Innovation
Free first-year membership for MedTech startups and students, plus mentorship and support for research and development that turns new ideas into products.

Tamil Nadu's medical device, IVD and allied manufacturing sector
ATMED brings together the companies that design, make and supply healthcare technology across the state — from single-use consumables and hospital equipment to diagnostics, electronics and the raw materials, testing labs and technology providers that support them. Our members range from established manufacturers to first-generation startups, many of them clustered around Chennai and the medical devices ecosystem in the Chengalpattu region.
Membership is open to manufacturers as Primary Members, to technology, testing, raw-material and consultancy firms as Associate Members, to regulatory, statutory and industry-development bodies as Affiliate Members, and — free for the first year — to MedTech students and startups.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can join ATMED?
Any manufacturer of medical devices, IVD products, medical equipment or healthcare products in Tamil Nadu can join as a Primary Member. Companies that supply or support the industry — technology providers, testing labs, raw-material and clean-room suppliers, consultants and certification bodies — join as Associate Members. Regulatory and industry bodies join as Affiliates, and MedTech students and startups are welcome free of charge for their first year.
What does membership cost?
Primary and Associate membership is ₹5,500 for an individual or proprietor and ₹10,500 for an institution (partnership, private limited or public limited company), inclusive of the application fee. Affiliate membership and the first year for students and startups are free.
When and how was ATMED formed?
ATMED was inaugurated on 26 August 2023 during the IMDI 21st National Conference in Chennai, to give Tamil Nadu's medical device, IVD and allied manufacturers a single voice with regulators, government and the wider industry.

How do I apply?
Complete the online membership application. You will be asked for your company details, your main products and product classes, and supporting documents such as your manufacturing licence and MSME Udyam certificate where applicable.
